Trap, trap and more trap. It’s going to be hard to ignore the 808′s Summer 2012, and honestly, why would you want to? The creativity is still flowing and producers are flooding to the sound in droves. Amsterdam-based Boeboe is our latest favorite. Eschewing any reliance on vocals or synthesizers, Boeboe’s stripped down tunes hit you straight in your frontal lobe. He’s not all new wave Mannie Fresh and DJ Toomp though, also maintaining a more than adequate grasp on recent UK house. His specialty though is in the rollicking snare rolls and sub bass of trap. Take “Wess Side Ryder (VIP)” for example. The track sounds austere when playing through your Macbook speakers, but put this shit on a real system and watch out. Boeboe’s tracks are percussion heavy and more challenging than most trappy bangers, but oh do they bang.
