Karma Kid Remixes Sweater Beats’ “Mlln Dllr”
Sweater Beats’ “Mlln Dllr” is a big song in every sense of the word. Cracking drums, call-and response, chorus heavy and a music video made up entirely of two girls making out. The Brooklyn producer has subtlety in his back pocket, but he certainly didn’t pull it out on “Mlln Dllr”. Fellow Justus Recordings member Karma Kid, who has been championed by Annie Mac over the past few months, recently took a stab at remixing “Mlln Dllr” and decided that removing any of the grandiosity of the original would be a huge mistake. Instead, the British producer trance-y piano and lots of it. Impulsive house music is Karma Kid’s game and he has gotten damn good at it. Similar to his compatriots Disclosure, his sound appears to be heading in an increasingly poppy direction and while the more straightforward sounds aren’t as engrossing as some his past work, having a surfeit of talented people in pop is not necessarily a bad thing.
