Rudimental make pretty non-descript, sometimes (really) corny, dance/pop crossover tunes. When I googled them, a video of them riding London with obnoxious jump-up/inspiration synth shit going on in the background came up. Not a fan. The vocalist has a nice voice though. Those Bondax dudes though? I like very much. Using a similar blueprint to recent B-Side “It’s You”, the Lancaster duo remixed Rudimental’s “Not Giving In” into a distended, piano funk joint. The remix feels like twisted up towel full of water that is just waiting to be relieved. It’s full of stress, but not a stressful sense. If you get my drift. It is strained, because of the juxtaposition of the twinkling keys/sanguine vocals and stringy bassline. An especially rewarding juxtaposition at that. The remix is out now on Asylum, stream below.
