Premier: Riley Lake’s Request Line Mix 4 The Astral Plane

It makes all too much sense to start this post off with a statement of intent. This mix is something of a mission statement for both parties involved after all. But fuck common sense, amirite? The truth is that it grew out of what amounts to silly internet posturing and standard file sharing debauchery. It all started with a simple Future club edit, but as the kids say the rest was “history”. In the end the (aptly titled) Request Line mix is half LOL Boys x Fader mix approximation and half an attempt at remixing the bacchanal that is modern life. I sent Riley a list of the rappity rap songs I wanted to see remixed and he sent me back 12 brand spankin’ new edits of everything from the aforementioned Future’s “You Deserve This” to an en vogue take on King Louie’s narcotics jawn of the moment. The mix is a varied bag sonically, but the final result is a condensed (albeit indulgent) version of both of our fine interests.
