Coachella pissed off a lot of people when tickets for the festival sold out in minutes, with thousands left waiting hours at a wait screen. The lineup was too tantalizing for most, but the ticket situation was frustrating to say the least. Many have been left to buying tickets for upwards of 600 dollars on the second hand market, a seemingly preposterous price for a three day festival. Those of you that weren’t able to cop tickets have been given a little consolation prize. If you are in the Los Angeles area in between the two Coachella weekends, you will have your choice of Coachella artists to pick from across numerous Southern California venues. Justice, Miike Snow, Neon Indian, ASAP Rocky, M83 and more will be making appearance in between the two weekends. Click on the image to the right for a more close up view of the schedule and expect more Coachella artists to be announcing shows in the area over the coming weeks.

It seems to be an exciting day for The Shins. Following a four-year silence, the band is back in action. The group’s frontman James Mercer announced in December that Spring 2012 will bring the band’s first full-length album since 2007′s Wincing The Night Away. The Shins left Sub Pop in 2008, and the album (titled Point of Morrow) will be released on Mercer’s own Aural Apothecary, via Columbia Records, and is expected in March.

This morning, The Shins released a track off the upcoming album. This track, titled “Simple Song,” is sure to be a big hit with old and new fans alike. Listen here:

In addition, after announcing tour dates for several cities across the country, it was confirmed today that The Shins will among the (many!) shining stars performing at Coachella 2012. Keep an eye out for Point of Morrow in March, but buy your Coachella ticket this Friday at 10am PST to avoid missing out on all the fun.

Over the past week, the Coachella facebook page has been posting videos of songs by The Weeknd, AraabMuzik, Azealia Banks, Breakbot, Jimmy Cliff and Housse De Racket. Predictably, hundreds of commenters jumped on the videos as confirmation that those artists will appear at the festival, and while there have been no official confirmations from Coachella, it is more than likely they will be making an appearance in Indio this April. The lineup is generally released around mid January and should be out sometime this week or next. I will be making the exodus to the Coachella Valley for the first time this year and could not be more excited over these first artists announced.
